So here’s another flyer for one of the courses at WCC… (Due to the flyer clashing with background of this page, I suggest you click each image to appreciate it)

Green Screen – Alice in Wonderland
May 28th, 2010 by Steve
A couple of weeks ago the students at West Cheshire College wanted to do a photo-shoot with an Alice in Wonderland theme, so rather than making the scenery we decided to use a green screen and edit the images after. The photographs were taken by my wife (more info can be found at http://www.art-e-choke.com). An example of the results below:
The images below are the edited images from the photo-shoot. I simply used Photo-shop and some backgrounds from the net to create the effects. The type is the actual font used in the film, marketing, etc. I’ve still got a few to do…

Simple Things, Please Simple Mind
March 11th, 2010 by Steve
Spotted this on my way to work (Liverpool Community College). For months I passed this place and always thought it looked out of place and wish I’d have taken a picture before it was knocked down. It use to be a small Green Grocers in front of FACT. Minute compare to the tall buildings surrounding it,
Two different meanings from two different angles…

CarnEvil
March 3rd, 2010 by Steve
For the past few weeks all the staff and students at WCC have been frantically preparing for CarnEvil (promotional event for the college, well Preforming Arts and Games Development).
The night was success, we (Games) set up the xbox on the large screens above the dance floor (for guests to play on) which went down a storm. We set up an area with laptops and students demonstrating 3D modeling and we even had people dress up as game characters and zombies handing out flyers.

The middle of nowhere
February 25th, 2010 by Steve
Once again it’s a freezing cold morning, which really doesn’t help the wait for the very over crowded train to Liverpool.
Teaching at Liverpool community college today (as I do every Thursday).
“Starbucks is very much screaming my name right about now”.
I’m early for change this morning, hence the very dull blog post and also the first post from my phone. Makes a change not having to dash into the ticket office or almost killing myself on the stairs crossing the platform.
Bidston – what a bleak, lonely place…

The birth of Studio 65
February 24th, 2010 by Steve
Studio65.org will be the web address for the students design company. The 65 is taken for the Ellesmere Port post code, where the course will be based.
After further discussions with the powers that be it seems the Studio 65 will incorporate a Game Development Studio, Web/Graphic/Flash Design Studio and a Music Studio (recording and promotion)
The work in-progress:
Not entirely happy with this, so it may change…

Idea’s coming out my ear’s…
February 24th, 2010 by Steve
For the second time today I submitted a proposal for new course.
The college I work for run both a Media course (mainly film, audio, etc.) and a Games Development Course (which i teach on). However the college doesn’t offer a Multimedia course (Graphic/Flash/Web design etc.). My proposal details this issue as well as other issues the students face once completing the qualification.
The main barrier students face when leaving full-time education is the lack of work experience. My plan is to set up a small design studio within the college that the students run. For every project they complete for the studio, they gather evidence to put towards their assessment. So when the students leave the college they will have a qualification and 2 years work experience.
The reason why I re-submitted today was due to the appointment of the new programme leader and that I had come up with and created a temporary logo for the design company.
So far my ideas seem to have been very well received

Flyer Number 2…
February 24th, 2010 by Steve
After being asked to look at the typography on the Music departments flyer and getting feedback from some of the students we decided to re-do it (I say we).
So I came up with this:
